I got the link to this site from Vince's blog the other day. A generate your own art web site. Just what I needed... something else to "pass the time". I guess it beats other ways, say- blogging for instance. For us obsessive types it is quite fun. If you look at the site you'll see there are ALOT of obsessives out there. You know who you are. Having said that- as fun as it is (and it certainly beats watching internet videos of cats playing piano) I'm not yet sure how I really feel about this. Though I know to expect that voice in my head to tell me get off my high horse and lighten up (as it so often does) I can sort of also hear that cheesy announcer/info-mercial guy saying "Why spend more buying art from a living, local artist when with a simple click of your mouse, you can make that art yourself... and it can match your sofa!!" Now- I love the internet and how it offers endless opportunities for self expression- and it's good! However with the great wide world of the web it's becoming increasingly easier to mistake whimsey for art, data for knowledge, and if I may paraphrase Joseph Campbell- to forsake poetry for prose.
Then again... maybe it will all work itself out in the end and soulfullness will prevail once more. Wait... excuse me one second....
Voice: I can't believe it! I leave you alone for FIVE minutes to use the bathroom and you just can't help yourself .... spoiling a fun, innocent, creative pastime- for what reason? What's the matter with you? Do you do this at home?
