There's no disputing the influence Frank Sinatra had on our culture. I won't even begin to qualify it here. Everyone has their favorite phase of Sinatra's career. Some prefer the early Swing years with the Dorsey Brothers, some the torch song baladeering years of the 1950's, and some the Rat Packing Vegas years. When the topic of The Rat Pack comes up and I'm pressed to answer "Nat- Who do you prefer– Frank or Dean?" I promptly reply "Sammy!" Sammy could out sing his partners any day of the week and I think Frank and Dean would probably agree. Here's a clip of Sammy impersonating some of the big names of the day. A gold star for all of you who recognize the names Vaughn Monroe and Frankie Laine! That would mean the demographic of this blog is broader than I thought!
